Brukenthal National MuseumBrukenthal National Museum was founded in 1817 and exhibits fine art , history, natural sciences, archeology, numismatics, decorative art items. It is based on former Brukenthal collections, where we added the collections of the Museum of the Carpathian Society. In 1950, the collections were enlarged by 497 art works of Romanian Astra museums. Founded by Baron Samuel von Brukenthal, Baroque monument, has a main body which was built between 1778 to 1788.
In the city's plan since 1875 are specified the five parcels towards Metropolitan Street and three parcels towaeds Xenopol Street that were merged, and the existing buildings here - demolished (including the modest church of the quarted) in order to build the cathedral.
The Holy Trinity Orthodox Cathedral
The result is a large building with a symmetrical composition and a central plan that, with some modifications, (the appearance of the two tall towers on the facade), is trying to resume, at a reduced scale of course, the elevation of a Byzantine basilica.
Evangelical CathedralThe Evangelical Cathedral is a large edifice in Gothic style, its plan consists of a polygonal choir composed of three bays, flanked to the north by a vestry, in the west following a transept, then the central nave and the two sides. The massive tower was built on the western side, embedded into a narthex formed of three naves.
The Roman Catholic ChurchAmong the buildings of the 18th century located in the Grand Square of Sibiu, the catholic church is very important. Although it was built relatively late, it’s baroque style is included in the harmonic architecture of the city. After Sibiu acceded to reform, the city remained almost 150 years without a Catholic church.
The Council TowerIt is one of the best known monuments of Sibiu. The tower so called because it defends the entrance gate of the second precinct, located near the City Hall of Sibiu, mentioned in documents since 1324 (Piata Mica No. 31, now restored). In its current form, the Council Tower has seven floors. The ground floor haa a large vaulted passage. The access inside is possible through a small door, and spiral stairs, reaching the upper floors. The current edifice is the result of several phases of construction, being embedded in a group of buildings.
The tower dates most likely since 1224 - 1241. In the moat was discovered a coin issued by Andrei II (1205 -- 1235).

Astra Museum of Traditional Folk CivilizationThe first outdoor event of the exhibition was held under the auspices of Astra, this way following the traditions of sibiu. The museum was founded in 1905 by the need to keep a very important heritage on endangered species, affected by weather difficulties.
The museum is located in a splendid natural scenery offered by forests and lakes. According to the information provided by the guide catalog appeared in 1995, currently the museum has 115 units and 279 annexes. They are situated in the context of five main sections with related thematic groups. An exhibition of monumental sculptures is added to them.
