Alexandru Ioan Cuza Memorial House is composed out of a permanent exhibition dedicated to the prince, wich has the quality of reconstructing the Galati ambient at the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the twentieth century.

Alexandru Ioan Cuza (the first ruler of the Romanian principalities) lived in this building between 1844 to 1859, while he was the president of the Court of Justice. In 1937 it formed the "Cuza Voda Association ", witch aimed to restore the house and transform it into a museum. Catherine and Paul Posa’s donation formed the nucleus of the planned exhibition.

The museum opens on 24 January 1939. And in the period 1950 - 1956 in the building there are assembled the collections of the Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural Sciences. Since 1986 the museum was closed to the public for restoration of the building. Since 1995 the Museum is known as "Cuza Voda House ", and from 20 May 2004, in a wing of the house, it opened the permanent exhibition of numismatics, medal, philately.

The specificity of fashionable salons from Galati, with the most representative furniture styles of the time (example: library gift of Carol I of Mihail Kogalniceanu) are presented in the first three rooms downstairs. The IV Hall is dedicated to progress in science and technology from the same period (example: a car of the company "De Dion-Bouton", French style, built in 1898, equipped with internal combustion engine). The exhibits hall upstairs are representative for the activity and the personality of the Prince Cuza, his family and collaborators (decorative art pieces, clothing and accessories etc.)
