On June 22, 2001,  Brasov County Museum of History has opened a permanent exhibition, entitled Brasov: history, culture, civilization.

The collection is displayed in 17 halls, on the museum three floors (basement, ground and first floor), and stretches over an area of 1100 square meters, with 3334 pieces on display in shop windows with a 123 total graphics surface divided by 210 square meters (50 panels).

The exhibition is divided into three fields: archeology (basement, 200 square meters), medieval history (ground floor 450 sq m) and modern history (floor 450 sqm).

The Archeology sector shows, through a rich archaeological material with an appropriate and captivating graphics with extensive explanatory texts, the beginnings of life and human activities within the present county of Brasov, the development of human community over all historical periods to the early Middle Ages. It is illustrated an extensive archaeological material, middle and upper Paleolithic, neo-Eneolithic, Bronze Age, the first Iron Age (Hallstatt).

The second section of the exhibition shows the development of Barsei Land and Brasov in the Middle Ages.
In this area, in the XII century is attested the first colonization of the population of German origin.
The complex medieval development of Brasov and Barsei Land country is due to its positioning at the crossroads of major traffic routes between West and East. The whole history of medieval Brasov is marked in all aspects-economic, social, democratic and political.

The third section
of the exhibition is organized into broad chapters by the three-dimensional materials and graphic panels that illustrate the artistry of the Culture Brasov (XVI-XVIII), Brasov music (XIX - early XX century), Theater in Brasov (centuries XVIII-XX), Tara Barsei and Brasov’s Economic Development (XIX - early XX century), Brasov, center of the national movement, The brasov press from the modern age, urban development of Brasov (1800-1918), aspects of life in villages from Tara Barsei (1800-1920).

Open: daily 10 to 18, Monday closed.
