Costache Negruzzi Memorial House

The building built during the years 1807-1810 consists of five exhibition halls and a multi-purpose hall for events. Many personalities of Romanian history were born and/or have lived here. Of these we mention: Costache Negruzzi (writer and member of the Romanian Academy), Leon Negruzzi (writer of "Junimea", mayor and senator from Iasi), Iacob Negruzzi (Vice President and President of the Romanian Academy, writer and one of the founding members of Junimea society), Ella L. Negruzzi (recognized as the first woman lawyer in Romania) etc.

Over time, at the Costache Negruzzi Memorial House encamped personalities as: Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Mihail Sturdza, Mihail Kogalniceanu, Vasile Alecsandri, Petre P. Carp etc. During 1993-1995, the house was carefully restored by the Romanian Literature Museum in Iasi.

In 1995, in the same time with the completion of restoration, the memorial house was opened as a museum, entering the circuit of cultural touristic sites of Romania. The museum contains a documentary exhibition (books in first editions, manuscripts, photocopies, photographs and objects that belonged to writers). With the restoration it has also been opened to the public the library-office, bedroom, dining room and music room.
