Cudalbi Monastery

Founded by Eugenia Pana, situated near the town Cudalbi, Galati county, Cudalbi monastery is also named Gologanu monastery, after the name of the estate of those places. The church was built between 1925 and 1933. The care taker of the church was the first Priory of the monastery, monk Haritina Vasiliu. At her death in 1940, sister Vasilica Mandru receives the Priory delegation.

Disbanded in 1950, the Monastery Gologanu remained a simple branch of Vladimiresti monastery, which took over its heritage.
The monastery is rebuilt in 1990. With the perseverance of the current abbot, Mariani Popa monk, Toma Damaschin and the entire community began building a new church, a new bell and 3 bodies cells, were organized inside the monastery and the household item.
In 1998, at the request of Dunarea de Jos Diocese, the name of the monastery was changed to Virgin Mary Monastery – Cudalbi.

The monastery was highlighted in 2001 by completing the work on a new section of cells and an imposing bell tower situated at the entrance of the monastery. The monastery building was made with great economic effort and has a great length, made by the great exertion of the nuns here and with the important contribution of the monastery servants.
