Located between the smooth hills of Bucovina, Dragomirna Monastery looks like a tree in time, between the city walls. The place of worship, through elegance and solidity of form, its age and the original style, in the middle of a picturesque landscape, wake the admiration of every visitor. The strange elegance of the monument, with great hardship geometric refinement, with an unique figure in volumes and unity, of all other Moldovan medieval monuments, make this a real tourist attraction.

Dragomirna Monastery
is composed of the small or hermitage church, big church, the walls of defense, the old building of the hegumen, the five towers, the cells and the chapel. The halidom was endowed with jeweles and ornaments worth the beauty and majesty of the building. Among them there is an interesting museum.

Until today was kept only a small part of the dowry given by Crimca and those close, because only a few years after completion of the monastery, was robbed of Timius Hmelnitski's Cossacks in the spring of 1653. A part of the looted ornaments were often redeemed by considerable amounts. Redemption ornaments is often mentioned, but some came back later and some never.

Numerous valuable ornaments, manuscripts, embroidery, silverware of worship and icons, worthy of illustrate to the visitor the artistic life inside the monastery, are exhibits in the collection of historic and artistic objects organized in the Gothic Hall.

Are also highlighted other artistic branches cultivated in the monastery. An example of these are: embroidery and art of processing precious materials. Silversmith Grigorie Moisiu made the sumptuous binds. A piece of historical and artistic significance is another epitaph with the theme "Burial", embroidery in gold and silver thread on silk background and given by the Metropolitan Barlaam of Rostov to the Metropolitan Anastasie Crimca. This was done in 1588 in Russia, this embroidery being another priceless object both by its age and its execution smoothness. A beautiful piece of silver and wood sculpture, reached to about the thumbnail, is also the cross of yew wood locked and gave by Anastasius Crimca its foundation in 1624.

The exhibition in the Gothic Room of the museum also hosts:

  • A copy of the homily of Varlaam printed in 1643 in Iasi, the first book written in Moldova in Romanian using the Cyrillic alphabet;
  • A sun bleached wax candle and painted by the builder according to the tradition, lit at the consecration service of the monastery;
  • Two epitaphs in the XVII century one of them representing angels and seraphims, and other had an embroidery depicting Saints Hierarchs;
  • Objects of worship dating from the XVIII century: bowls, stand, drive and litter.
  • A crystal candelabrum gave by the Empress Catherine II of Russia;
  • Other smaller crosses that belonged to the abbot of the monastery.
