Ethnography and Folk Art Museum, owns in its heritage exhibits, regarding the Braila’s inhabitants occupations: monoxile, grinders and clay and wood, carpets, etc.. and folk art pieces.

In 1970 the first ethnographic exhibition opened
, in a wing of the Braila Museum. Following the researches made in the following years, researches that led to the discovery of an impressive number of ethnographic and folk art pieces, the Department of Ethnography and Folk Art was formed.

On June 1, 1976 the permanent exhibition opened.

Collections from the Ethnography and Folk Art Department are structured on the following areas:
  • Traditional occupations - agriculture (viticulture, fruit growing, farming), fishing, grazing and animal husbandry, hunting, fishing;
  • Village architecture (decorative pieces, columns, etc..)
  • Household and household objects;
  • Crafts - wood, iron manufacturing, stone processing, domestic crafts;
  • Industries - processing of hemp;
  • Folk art - interior textiles (wool and cotton), costumes;
  • Spiritual life
