The building built in the early-twentieth century, was restored first in 1985. George Toparceanu, humorist and great poet of the Romanian people was born in 1886 in Bucharest. Soon after the beginning of school, George Toparceanu started, publishing for the first time in the humorous magazine "Belgium of the East". Then extended his work in the magazines Semanatorul, Revista noastra, Viata romaneasca, Duminica, Ramuri etc.

After high school, enrolled in law school that he soon abandoned for the Faculty of Letters. Together with M. Sevastos founded in the years 1912-1913, the magazine "Teatrul". In 1916 he made the editorial debut with the launch of two books: Parodii originale and Balade vesele. Then he was called up for the campaign in Bulgaria and for the World War I where he was taken captive.

In 1918 he was released and transcribed in prose his experiences during the war by volumes: "Memories from the fights from Turtucaia", "Pirin-Planina, tragic and comic episodes in captivity" and "In their claws ... Memories of Bulgaria and easy sketches".
In 1926 he was awarded with the National Prize for Poetry for his volumes: Balade vesele si triste, Migdale amare, Scrisori fara adresa, Pirin - Planina.

On May 7, 1937 the poet dies. The memorial house exposes personal objects: pen, ink pot, ashtray, pipe, records, documents, photos, camera, manuscripts, journals etc.
