Description

The home of the great poet Mihai Eminescu (1850 - 1889) can be found at Ipotesti (8 km from Botosani). Since the original plan did not comply, this house is also destroyed and in 1979 it opened another house (built on the foundation of the demolished one in 1924).

Ipotesti Memorial has several objectives: Memorial House, Church Village, built since 1929 at the initiative and the contribution of Nicolae Iorga and Cezar Petrescu, attested in 1838, the peasant House era (today an ethnographic museum), in Moldovan style, the last owner of the estate property Ipotesti - Dr. Papadopol; National Library of Poetry Mihai Eminescu; Mihai Eminescu Museum. The last two were opened on January 15, June 15, 2000 respectively, in the great cultural program in 2000 - Year of Eminescu.

Having a rich heritage and cultural museum, Ipotesti Memorial, which is entitled to mention the objects that belonged to the family Eminovici (furniture, porcelain, crystal, silver spoon with the poet's mother's monogram, seal in the brass of Dr. Serban Eminovici - brother of the poet) and the old objects specific to household farms (on display in the Ethnographic Museum). The real interest is the documentary fund of the Library, there are 32 photocopies of manuscripts of Eminescu, photos and autographs of the poet's letters, Veronica Micle, Titu Maiorescu and other cultural personalities of the nineteenth century, editions of Mihai Eminescu's work - from the 1833 edition till now. IThere can be visited the  tombstones of Gheorghe and Raluca Eminovici, parents of the poet and his two brothers Iorgu and Nicu, is also found near their symbolic grave of the poet, built in 1989 by architect Doru Bantus. A bronze bust of the poet can be viewed at Ipotesti.
