The First World War brought damages to Iulia Hasdeu Castle, that required repairs since before the death of its builder, Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu (1896). The task of making the renovation works were taken over in 1924 by the "B.P. Hasdeu" People’s Atheneum from Campina. The Second World War aggravated even worse the state of the building, until 1955, when its name was included on the List of Historical Monuments. Iulia Hasdeu Castle was renovated between years 1962-1964, the Historical Monuments Commission taking the decision to transform the castle into a museum.

Thanks to the History Professor, Nicolae Simache, who founded almost all the museums from Prahova County, on April 9, 1965, the Memorial Museum 'B.P. Hasdeu' was opened. After the earthquake on March 4, 1977, the castle entered into a long process of renovation.
After it suffered many restoration works during 1977-1994, on June 17, 1994, the Memorial Museum 'B.P. Hasdeu' was opened partially and then on February 25, 1995, was put totally at the disposal of the visitors, although the renovations had not been yet completed at that time.

The visitors who come to the museum can admire Hasdeu family portraits, photographs and original documents, objects belonging to the Hasdeu family, old furniture for over a century, scholar books editions, manuscripts and collections of journals led by the great philologist times when it worked as well as valuable paintings signed by famous painters such as Sava Hentia, Nicolae Grigorescu, G.D. Mirea or Diogene Maillart. Also, in the whole exhibition, the spiritualist concerns of B.P. Hasdeu have an important place.
