Little Trianon Palace

judetul Prahova, Muntenia

AddressLoc. Floresti,

"Little Trianon" Palace was built according to a larger palace from Versailles, a place not far from Bucharest. Little Trianon is the nickname for the palace built by Grigore Cantacuzino in Floresta, where he had his estate. In 1911, the one nicknamed "Nababul" began building a special monument in Prahova Valley. Architect Ioan Berindey designed the building and its structure is inspired by the Great and Little Trianon from Versailles. Also from France came some trained artisans and the works were nearly completed in 1913, when the exterior of the palace was finished.

Unfortunately, in 1913 Grigore Cantacuzino died. His son, Michael, didn’t continue the work perhaps because of the World War.
Its degradation started since then, when the Germans took the copper sheets from the roof and the stoves. What's left of the palace, the annexes and the park of nearly 150 hectares, have been transformed by communists in a canine training unit and after 1965 was founded a tuberculosys sanatorium. After the revolution appeared the restoration initiatives but all were hit first by the existence of the tuberculosys sanatorium. The construction is now in a deplorable condition, in an advanced state of decay, only the exterior walls still exist and the roof collapsed.
