Located in the south of Constanta, in Techirghiol it is found one of the most beautiful monasteries from Dobrogea,  Saint Mary Monastery.

Built in the seventeenth century by the village community of Maioresti village, the Mures county, the church was relocated in 1934 by King Charles II to Pelisor Castle in Sinaia. Being dedicated to St. Mary, the monastery was built on the site of an old sanatorium, whose foundation has made in 1928 by the first Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Miron Cristea (1919-1939).

Saint Mary Monastery
is framed, in terms of architecture, in the series of the wooden churches in Maramures. Its plan is constructed as: rectangular, but with polygonal eastern and western sides, the church walls are constructed of oak beams and horizontally overlapping in a specific technique; the beams have a natural look, not finished yet. The welling is decorated with folk Romanian motifs and crosses.

In the monastic complex of Saint Mary,
it was founded a museum in 1990. In the museum there are found authentic pieces, Christian evidence of IV to VI century: the Capitel from a basilica in Callatis (Mangalia), plywood tables and column of a basilica discovered at Tomis.

Among the museum exhibits there are also priest vestments from the eighteenth century, religious objects and icons of wood and wood overlaid in brass from the same period. Very important is a thumbnail taht depicts Saints George and Demetrius and an olive wood sculpture from the nineteenth century.
