Saint Parascheva Church

judetul Bacau, Moldova

AddressSat Marvila,

"Saint Parascheva" Church - was founded in 1935, the architect and master are not known. The church was in the form of boat, with one tower, built of brick on concrete foundation and covered with whiteboard. It doesn't have a characteristic style and can be classified to be built in Moldavian style. The interior is not painted, but whitewashed.

The old iconostasis was painted in oil on linen, and in 1965 was replaced by a linen wood timber and painted in oil, brought from the parish Anghelesti. After the damage suffered during the earthquake of 1940, the church underwent some repairs and there were added some support pillars.

As objects valued only by age, can be mentioned the old reredos of oil painted canvas in 1860, made by an unknown painter, containing 34 icons, and other four icons of wood (the Savior Jesus Christ, Saint Parascheva, Virgin Mary, Saint Nicholas) with the same age.

The time and the bad weather have left their mark on the church. In the communist period many things couldn't be done but, after 1990, believers from the village Marvila and the priest began building a new church, in 1996.
