Shoemakers' Headquarters

Description

Shoemakers' Headquarters - the strong shoemakers guild has built a bastion of the medieval fortress, the guild appearing in the early sixteenth century. With the abolition of guilds, at the end of the nineteenth century, associations of craftsmen were established.

Shoemakers' Headquarters was designed by Nagy Gyozo; upstairs hosted the association offices and downstairs spaces had the purpose of hotel rooms and restaurant. The restaurant was transformed into a cinema in 1949. After restoration works in 1982, the building facade regained the initial appearance.
