Description

Sighisoara Medieval Festival - in the last weekend of July each year, Sighisoara expect Europe to the largest medieval festival in Romania, where in the medieval city and on the old streets we can enjoy the medieval atmosphere that spreads throughout the city.

The festival is held in 10 sections - theater, music, exhibitions, arts, dance, film, medieval moetry, youth concerts and conferences, exhibition of books, sprinkled with street animation shows, choral concerts, evening concerts, exhibition of medieval costumes and medieval dance classes. At the event participate student theater groups, private bands and professional theaters in the country and abroad.

Since 1992, every summer, Citadel of Sighisoara relive its history due to the Medieval Festival. On the narrow streets, the old walls, appear knights, wizards, monks, clowns and ghosts made flesh, come from a world in which fabulous and terrible lived together feeding the fear but also the untiring desire for adventure.

Trying to bring back a sunset era, Sighisoara Medieval Festival wants to elicit from the prezent this one piece that, in the Middle Ages scenery and minstrel songs, will be very appreciated by participants.
This event contributed over time to the establishment and expansion of a significant portion of visitors to the village, both in country and abroad, which has helped to form a separate image of the citadel, as a cultural medieval town.

Event organizers have set out to emphasize the culture and the mediaevalism of the event and also the awareness of population in the area and the visitors about the importance of the national cultural heritage.

Sighisoara Festival gathers every year a total of more than 30,000 visitors, attracted by the authentic charm of the medieval fortress, and the atmosphere created by the organizers. In fact, the festival in Sighisoara is a continuing series of festivals: of the streets, the actors, the markets, the towers, the churches, but especially the people.
