Medias, judetul Sibiu
Address | Mihai Viteazul, 44-46 |
Description
The edifice was built in Baroque style and has exhibits of a great value, including the treasury Seica Mica (containing 348 Roman coins), the thesaurus from Panade, pieces of folk pottery in different objects carved from feudal era etc.
The current complex is composed of two distinct buildings: the church and the monastery. The church has preserved more of its initial appearance. It is a church hall which continues towards east with chorus very elongate compared to the proportions of the nave. The Franciscan church building was probably finalized approximately between years 1500 - 1515. Between 1500 -1510 the monastery inside the complex was rising.
In the year 1742 they have finished the reconstruction works of the place of worship, which thus receives its baroque look (which can be seen today). The two buildings of the monastery were built on two levels - ground floor and first floor. The east wing remained only with ceilings. Currently, is construction of a monumental sobriety and houses the Municipal Museum collections.
