The Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden covers an area of 8.41 hectares and has a varied flora who is not only of Romania but also of various areas of the world which have a similar climate to our country. The Botanical Garden has a catalog of seeds with which maintains stable exchanges worldwide with 150 other gardens.

Visitors can observe flora from regions of Romania like Dobrogea Semenic, Herculane, but they can also admire the Asian flora or that of North America and the Mediterranean. The Botanical Garden enters in the category of tourist attractions with its unique 43 collection species. Annually, funds are allocated for the development of the Botanical Garden. Thus were planted 63 trees and 100 little trees of 18 different species.

The ornamental sector was increased with the planting of Japanese locus trees and shrubs with ornamental flowers. Most planting was done in the Asian and American flora: Japanese maple, Japanese cherry, Magnolias in the Asian flora and rododendroni and locus trees with red flowers in the American flora.

Also, the Botanical Garden was rearranged and modernized in 2008. This redevelopment project supposed the introduction of a performant irrigation system, restoration of alleys, outdoor furniture modernization, rehabilitation and operation of pools, water fall and the mountain river. Also the project plan was the arrangement of a "tea house" on the island where it is situated the Japanese garden and linking it to the rest garden through a red wooden bridge.

The Botanical Garden wants to be for any visitor a complex tourist attraction, summing up many functions, scientific, educational, creative and leisure so that everyone feels in his ease to discover the beauties of the Romanian flora.
