The Dicasterial Palace

Timisoara, judetul Timis

AddressEugeniu de Savoya, 2

Currently, the Court of Timisoara, Timis Court and Court of Appeal Timisoara are found in the Dicasterial Palace, a building built in the nineteenth century, between 1855-1860. The Dicasterial Palace is a tourist attraction by its monumentality and was for a long time the largest building in Timisoara. The Dicasterial Palace is three streets long with 3 floors and 3 courtyards. Before, the palace had 273 office rooms, 24 rooms for servants, 34 kitchens, 65 celeries and 27 warehouses, all grouped around the internal courtyards.

As architectural style, the Dicasterial Palace belongs to the Italian Renaissance, faithfully reproducing the Medici Palace in Florence.
The Dicasterial Palace imposes by size, singularity and significance, being one of the sights of the city of Timisoara. The Palace’s facades are organized in horizontal records rhythmed through the windows rows. On the first floor, the windows impress by many little columns. Because of the building’s size, and the neighborhood’s constructions, the palace can be seen only partially.
