The Memorial House Ion Minulescu

Bucuresti, Muntenia

Phone021 6383174
AddressBlvd. Dr. Gheorghe Marinescu, 19

Ion Minulescu Memorial House was founded in 1991.
The museum’s collection includes literary documents, letters, photographs, manuscripts, paintings by Dimitrie Ghiata, Alexandru Ciucurencu, Henri Catargi, Margareta Sterian, sculptures by Cornel Medrea, Oscar Han, Claudia Millian, the working desk with personal objects of the poet Ion Minulescu (1881 -- 1944), books, Oriental art objects.

The Memorial House is composed of a suite of five rooms and annexes. From the entrance hall, visitors are impresed by a beautiful exhibition of fine art. Between the greater works we distinguish an oil on canvas signed Damian, which represents Mioara Minulescu, who is joined by a groups of graphics, depicting the poet, under the prestigious signatures of Iosif Iser, Jean Steriadi, Paunescu Gruia. In the hall’s graphics appear other signatures such as Theodor Pallady, Carol Popp de Szatmary, Nicolae Darascu etc.

Interesting is the showcase loaded with small personal items, books of the two writers, statues, cards etc. The works of fine art have signatures of famous painters: Sorin Ionescu (landscapes), Petre Iorgulescu-Yor, Luky Galaction-Passarelly, Cutescu-Storck, Iser again and Lucia Demetriade-Balacescu, a well-known Ressu depicting Ion Minulescu with cigarette and several paintings signed again by Mioara Minulescu. On the small service there is a sculpture of Claudia Millian, representing Mihai Eminescu.

Brass and silver vessels fill the room decor. His room has, besides furniture, some paintings signed by: N. Tonitza, caricatures by Iser, D.E. Galanis - Greek painter (Ion Minulescu on a high chair playing the guitar - Paris, 1903), Ziffer, Traian Cornescu (Mioara Minulescu at eight years), an ink of Theodor Pallady and, again, Claudia Millian, an oil representing the poet’s mother. The library is impressive, both  as size and content.
