The Museum of History and Archeology

The Department of Archeology and History includes 15 exhibition halls, located at the first and second floor of the Cultural Palace.
The number of over 2000 exhibits illustrates the evolution of Arad area, from the first traces of  human presence to the introduction of the communist regime and consist in models of medieval castles, seals, handicraft items, old manuscripts, clothing accessories, ornaments, old photos.

Significant parts of the museum collection are: 100,000 years tools carved from flint and opal, representing the oldest traces of human presence in this area of Arad; the figurine on the wall of a vessel "Venus from German Sampetru" dated at about 3900 BC, Dacian silver coins of  III, II centuries BC from Silindia; discoveries from the Ground Fortress from Vladimirescu dated in the VIII - IX centuries, diploma of free imperial city of Arad, handed to local authorities in 1834; personal belongings of the 13 generals of the Hungarian revolutionary army, flags, weapons and official acts of the Guards and of the Romanian National Councils, from the period of the realization of the Great Union on 1 December 1918.
