Description
In 1923, at the initiative of two Orthodox Romanians coming to work at the "Wire industry" company, the in village of Ghiris-Aries was established the first Orthodox chapel, in a hall of Paget mansion
Between 1949-1951 the Orthodox services were held in the former Greek Catholic church in Sancrai (the 1st December 1918 Street no. 57).
Between years 1943-1951 was built the first Orthodox Church dedicated to the "Resurrection of Christ" (Also called Orthodox Church III). The architect was George Cristinel from Bucharest (who also designed the House of Culture "Ionel Floasiu", a historical monument). The construction works were conducted and supervised by the local foreman Simon.
The interior was finished in 1970 when it was remarkable decorated both in terms of iconography and style. the painting is made in Byzantine style and the construction plan was made in form of cross.
