Description

Vineyard and Wine Museum of Harlau - presents to the visitor as a place of history of wines from the famous vineyards from the region (Radauti, Vaslui, Odobesti, Husi, Botosani, Panciu, Harlem), with ten rooms, arranged on two levels. The building (restored in 1990) is a historical monument, which belongs to the end of the XVIIth century.

The building was owned by one of the descendants of Ioan Tautu's steward. Between 1875 - 1983 functioned as a post. The museum activity was under the authority of the Ethnographic Museum of Moldavia team from Iasi. In July 2006, the collections were arranged in a new exhibition structure.

The first three rooms illustrate the connection between wine and the important moments of life such as baptism, wedding and funeral. Moldovans' traditions and customs, beliefs and superstitions related to the vinesare represented.
The fourth room presents the inn atmosphere, table with goat type legs, pieces of harness, a rack with measures of drink, bags of passengers, costumes, etc.

The fifth hall presents a traditional interior of sub Harlau. The furniture, fabrics (mostly from nearby villages) and ceramics complete the specific interior of this region. In the basement is a part of the inventory of a wineries (most pieces were taken from a cellar in Vaslui County).

One room contains objects which highlight the beliefs and superstitions surrounding the vineyard and wine. The hall in the basement presents technical installations used for pressing grapes. In the museum's collection are also exhibited items necessary for viticulture, such as "dogaritul" (manufacturing staves) or pottery.

Visitors can admire the reconstitution of pottery manufactory, as well as objects of black pottery in Poiana Deleni - Iasi which has preserved for a long time the prehistoric craft of black pottery in the Dacian La Tene. This museum, unique as theme in Moldavia, is constantly the host of various activities and events.
